Pseudophoenix sargentii spp. saonae var. navassana

Winning Bid: $8.00

This palm is native to Navassa Island off the SW coast of Haiti. Today this subspecies and variety has been lumped back into Pseudophoenix sargentii. However Robert Read separated this palm from the typical Pseudophoenix sargentii by having inflorescences more than one-third the length of it leaves, primary bracts more than 1/3 as long as its peduncle (flower bunch stem) and leaves white or silvery beneath with ovoid fruit (rather than globular or sub-pyriform fruit) more than 1.5 cm in diameter.

Weight: 2.1 oz.
