Coccothrinax barbadensis

This beautiful palm comes from the Lesser Antilles, and Trinidad and Tobago. In habitat, it is commonly found on calcareous soils and in full sun. Like other Coccothrinax species, this palm has costa palmate leaves, and has distinct leaf color variation, where the topside has bright green leaves, while the underside has a silver-hue. Its trunk is relatively thin and can be covered in woven-like fibers. Compared to other C. species, it is a relatively fast grower, reaching heights from 2 – 8 m.
