This is a massive palm 6-20 m tall with clean, smooth, columnar 30-50 cm diameter trunk. The leaves are ca. 15 feet long and are strongly ascending like many of this genus. It is native to the Pacific coast of Southern Mexico. Some say that this is just A. cohune, which occurs on the eastern side of side of Central America.
