Flowering tree to 100′ with buttressed roots. Foliage odd-pinnate, leaflets to 2″ long, dark green; flowers small, pea-like, bright yellow with brown stripes, in panicles,
attractive to pollinators; fruit a 1″ long rough-skinned 1-2 seeded indehiscent pod. Red sap once used medicinally. Flood-resistant.
