Flowering timber tree to 70′. Flowers yellowish- to greenish-white, 5-petaled, fragrant. Fruit greenish, 1″ diameter, with 1-2 seeds loosely held within.
Heartwood black, valuable esp. for the manufacture of woodwind instruments.
