Small flowering tree to 30′. Foliage even-pinnate. Flowers yellow, typical of genus, in small clusters. Pods to 3″ long, gray-green, flat but slightly twisted, with narrow segmentation between each seed.
The gum extracted from the dark-colored bark is used commercially as an adhesive (envelopes, postage stamps, etc.) and as a coating for candies, pharmaceuticals, etc.
