Large-canopied deciduous tree to 100′. Foliage even-pinnate, with 6-8 pairs of leaflets that open and close with moisture levels, often shedding excess moisture in the process. Flowers mimosa-like, pink and white.
Pods to 6″ long, leathery, glossy brown, seeds encased in sweet-smelling edible pulp, used as livestock feed in the tropics.
