Pseudophoenix sp.

Winning Bid: $26.00

The Pseudophoenix genus is found throughout most of the Caribbean from the Florida Keys to coastal Belize, and the Bahamas. Most are slow growing palms with short crownshafts and arching pinnate leaves. The basal leaflets are very narrow and resemble leaf spines (acanthophylls) like the genus Phoenix and thus the generic name, which means “false Phoenix”. They all have greenish-yellow flowers that mature into red fruits, which are often two and three lobed.
