Zamia nesophila is an arborescent species from Panama that is characterized by extremely broad plicate leaflets. It has trunks to 9 feet tall and 9 inches in diameter, holds up to 20 leaves per crown that can exceed 7 feet in length. The leaflets are up to 15 inches long and 4 inches wide. Native to sandy soil near beaches, this species should be relatively salt tolerant and is one of the easiest to grow within a group of related species known as the Zamia skinneri complex.
