Schippia concolor
Current bid: $18.00
Commonly known as the mountain pimento or silver pimento, Schippia concolor is a medium-sized, single-stemmed palm native to Belize and Guatemala. Its slender trunk reaches heights of 5 to 10 meters (16 to 33 feet) and is typically covered by the remains of old leaves. The palmate leaves are glossy green on both sides, with petioles extending up to 2 meters (6.6 feet) and leaf blades approximately 1 meter (3.3 feet) in diameter, divided into about 30 narrow segments. This species thrives in open and closed dry forests up to 500 meters (1,640 feet) in elevation, preferring well-drained soils and full sun exposure. It is also known for its drought tolerance. Due to habitat loss, Schippia concolor is currently classified as vulnerable.
