This solitary fan palm is native to parts of Central America, Trinidad and Tobago and Venezuela in humid forests and savannahs. It has slender stems that grow up to 20 m and a diameter of 15-25 cm. Enlarged at the base, which is green in young plants, and grey/brown in adults. Has showy inflorescences, where they exceed the length of its leaves.
