This attractive palm, called the ribbon fan palm, is known for its nearly 3 ft. long narrow pendulous or weeping leaf segments. It is native to the eastern coast of Queensland, Australia. It grows to 50 ft. with a stem diameter of 10 inches. The 6 ft. petiole (leaf stalk) has short teeth on its margin. The 1/2 inch fruits are shiny black when mature. It is one of the most cold hardy species of the genus.
