This slow-growing, fan-leaved palm is native to the Bahamas, the Florida Keys, western Cuba and south to the Lesser Antilles. It has many names, one of which is the silver thatch palm referring its leaves which are green or bluish green above and whitish or silvery below. Peaberry palm refers to its small pea-sized white fruits, which are born sessile (without a stalk) on its inflorescence. Palms grow to 30 feet and the 8 inch diameter stems eventually become clean and smooth.
