The Acai palm, native to eastern Amazonia, is commonly cultivated for its fruit or “berries.” It grows in seasonally flooded areas, particularly in swamps or floodplains, and requires partial shade for best growth. The Acai palm can reach heights to 20 m and has long fronds growing up to 4 m. Its crownshaft has a bluish-green color, with mature fruits being dark blue.
