Cycas debaoensis

Current bid: $21.00

Cycas debaoensis, an extraordinary and rare cycad species, is endemic to the Guangxi region of China. This species is distinguished by its elegant, tripinnate fronds—a rarity among cycads—forming a lush, feathery canopy. The leaves can extend up to 8 to 10 feet in length, with finely divided leaflets that create a soft, graceful appearance. Typically, the trunk is almost subterranean, occasionally protruding up to 70 cm above ground. Cycas debaoensis thrives in sunny locations at elevations ranging from 700 to 1000 meters. Classified as Critically Endangered, this species faces threats from habitat loss and over-collection. Despite its status, it adapts well to cultivation, making it a prized addition to botanical collections and a testament to nature’s delicate craftsmanship and resilience.
