This handsome, clean-looking palm has a beautiful, slightly swollen stem 8-20 m tall and a short crownshaft. The large 1.8 cm globose fruits are dark red and born on long arching inflorescence. It is truly a very rare and beautiful palm. It only grows in the SW peninsula of Haiti where there are very few reproductive individuals left. It would be a fine addition to any palm collection.
