Garcinia spicata

This evergreen tree is native to southern India and Sri Lanka. It has thick, leathery, opposite leaves with numerous closely spaced parallel lateral veins that join in a marginal vein, and exudes a white to yellowish latex when cut. Male and female flowers are small, whitish, and borne in leaf axils, generally on separate trees, so only some individuals set fruit. The rounded yellow-orange fruits are edible. It grows in full sun to partial shade and tolerates coastal exposure.
