This recently introduced fan palm from Burkina Faso, also grows from Senegal to Central Africa and is smaller than its other Borassus relatives growing to a height of 40 ft with a diameter of only 10-12 inches, but recorded to 30 inches. The three-seeded fruits are about the size of a large softball and dark purple when mature. It requires trees of both sexes to produce viable fruit.
