Elephant Apple
Flowering tree to 50′. Foliage large (to 1.5′ long), deep green, corrugated in texture, with slighly serrated margins, held in large whorls at ends of branches;
Flowers large, drooping, white, with many stamens forming a wheel in the center; fruit 4″ round with gooey edible (if sour) pulp tightly encased in the old flower sepals.
Fruit eaten by elephants in its native SE Asia, hence the common name.
