This drought resistent, clustering palm was confused with Syagus orinocensis, but besides clustering, it has more robust proportions with stiffer, less pendulous leaves and larger inflorescences. It grows in the northern coastal mountains of Venezuela. Its fruits often ripen green in color and the stems grow to 40 feet with a 6-8 inch diameter.
