Endemic to the E coast of Australia from Central Queenland to Victoria, where it is the second most southern palm species. This fast growing palm is called the Australian cabbage palm. It has costa palmate leaves with armed petioles and grows to 75 feet with a 1 foot diameter stem. Rings on the stem are closely packed. It is tolerant of saline conditions.
